Antonio Romano – Esploratore di mondi del profondo i cui cardini sono i contrasti e i sentimenti che escono fuori dalla vita di ogni giorno, Romano non predilige una tecnica rispetto le altre ma sperimenta di volta in volta un legame tra la linea grafica che descrive ogni minimo particolare e il colore, che evidenzia le forme esprimendo per sua natura le emozioni. Fin da piccolo affascinato dagli artisti del surrealismo, durante lo studio in Accademia di Palermo ha conosciuto e apprezzato artisti e maestri eccentrici, da Bosh a El Greco, da Munch a  Füssli, da Bacon a Giger e così via… osservando dai loro capolavori la propria visione unica e bizzarra. La sua è una doppia ricerca: da un lato disegnatore di mondi surreali la cui realtà è governata da leggi in contrasto tra loro, una esasperazione portata al limite di ciò che giornalmente viviamo o osserviamo; dall’altro una sperimentazione sul concetto di opera d’arte, non più legata alla tradizione ma spezzata sia fisicamente che concettualmente; le opere spaccate superano l’idea statica e convenzionale di quadro, che frammentandosi diventa qualcos’altro. I disegni surreali e i quadri spaccati spesso si intrecciano e convivono nella stessa opera. La sperimentazione del taglio su legno e del taglio all’idea di opera d’arte è iniziata nel 2021 ed è ad oggi il filo conduttore della sua sperimentazione artistica.

An explorer of deep worlds whose cornerstones are the contrasts and feelings that come out of everyday life, Romano does not favor one technique over the others but experiments from time to time with a link between the graphic line that describes every single detail and the color, which highlights the shapes expressing emotions by its nature. Fascinated by surrealist artists since he was a child, during his studies at the Palermo Academy he met and appreciated eccentric artists and masters, from Bosh to El Greco, from Munch to Füssli, from Bacon to Giger and so on… observing his own from their masterpieces unique and bizarre vision. His is a double research: on the one hand, designer of surreal worlds whose reality is governed by laws in conflict with each other, an exasperation taken to the limit of what we live or observe on a daily basis; on the other, an experimentation on the concept of a work of art, no longer linked to tradition but broken both physically and conceptually; the split works overcome the static and conventional idea of a painting, which by fragmenting becomes something else. Surreal drawings and split paintings often intertwine and coexist in the same work. The experimentation with cutting on wood and cutting the idea of a work of art began in 2021 and is today the common thread of his artistic experimentation.
